It’s a question we’ve been asked a lot lately. You too may be wondering a little about how we came to be here with you today.
Let me tell you a quick story about the time I was prevented from helping an expat couple.
At the time I was trying to work with an expat couple who needed a financial planner who could coordinate and advise on their goals and financial matters that involved three countries. While we have the system that works for this type of situation, being licensed advisors means that you have to have registrations in the same countries. In this case, we were not licensed or registered in any of the countries involved.
I was struggling with finding licensed advisors who first had the knowledge and second, had the compensation or business model would allow them to provide country specific advice as part of a team that I needed to lead to best serve the client couple.
And I was getting more and more frustrated and disheartened by the fact that little has changed in cross-border financial planning space over the last ten years.
Then the bottom fell out from under me when I realized that despite having one of the most robust set of connections in cross-border financial planning, I was going to have to tell this client couple that I failed…
Which meant I couldn’t help them despite having the systems and knowledge of how to help them, or it meant possibly spending months continuing to search for and vet advisors who had the technical skills as well as the business model capability.
As you can imagine, I was deeply frustrated and desperate, but I wasn’t ready to give up on my dream of helping expat couples get access even if the market isn’t able to fully serve them the way they both need and deserve.
After talking through ideas with my husband, Jeff, we then decided to use the power of technology.
At that point, everything changed!
I finally figured out how to:
- Deliver the most important components of my advisory system direct to expat couples
- Arrange the information so that it could be used with and by advisors, and
- Get couples the tools they need to get started.
Because I we’re using the power of technology, we can:
Serve more people, make a huge difference in people’s lives in key areas of their lives, and use my passion for cutting through complexity to create a new model for life and wealth so that more families can thrive instead of suffer through the stress.
Now I’m living my dream of helping expat couples get access even if the market isn’t able to fully serve them the way they need to be, and I never have to worry about being prevented from helping ever again.
And that’s why I’m so passionate about what we’re building here at The Cross Border Living Institute so you too can experience access, proven systems and tools even if the cross-border private client advisory industry isn’t able to fully serve yet!
